Day 4: Miracles Are Happening

Many thanks to Cookie Hoover and her quilters.  Every child who has surgery gets a quilt.  Thanks Don for bring them all down to Antigua.

I have wonderful news to report about Norma's surgery.  She is beautiful!!!!!!!  Her plastic surgeon is a genius.  Norma has a new nose, a new lip, and a perfect smile.  The surgeon took measurements from her mother so that their smiles would be similar.  Norma had an extra wide mouth and now she has a normal mouth.  I stopped by to see her early this morning and even though she was still a little groggy she put on a grand new smile when I gave her a beanie baby giraffe.

Yenner is my high 5 buddy.  He is such a sweet, funny, happy go lucky little boy.

When you have palate surgery the tongue sometimes goes back into the hole and it's hard to get it out.  The solution is to suture a string through the tongue so that if needed you can just pull the tougue out.  That stays in for 24 hours and then it's cut off.  Teresa is helping by holding the head so that it doesn't move.  Some times they get scared and thrash around...Teresa is the anti-thrasher.
